We've been looking for ways to provide e-bikes at lower cost, and we're now offering FBT-exempt salary-packaged novated leasing of ebikes, through a company called Sparque.
What does that jumble of words mean? Basically it's a way for you to lease a bike, through your employer, and pay for it with your pre-tax income (so effectively get a big discount). As long as you're using it primarily to commute to work, it's exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax. After 4 years, you own it!
How does it work exactly?
As long as your employer is signed up with Sparque, the process is straightforward:
- You contact us here at Omafiets - we find the perfect e-bike for you, including any accessories you may need.
- Once you've decided on your e-bike, we help you fill out the Sparque quote application.
- Sparque will get back to you within about a week with a personalised quote.
- Once you've accepted, we finalise the paperwork and you collect your new e-bike from Omafiets.
Who's eligible?
NSW Health, Transport for NSW, UNSW and USYD are all signed up (as well as many others). If your employer isn't currently offering it, let us know the best contact in your HR department and we'll see what we can do.
